Waste Knots

There is currently enough clothing on the planet to dress the next 6 generations.

30% of new garments remain unsold and incinerated or dumped in landfills.

T-shirts are a prime example, designed for one-off events and then discarded. I repurpose t-shirts, fabric scraps, old clothing, and plastic bags, into material for my woven pieces. The abundance of these materials allows me to work on a large scale, emphasizing both the excess and the potential for reuse. By cutting, stretching, and shaping, I create a form of ‘yarn,’ giving new life to textiles that would otherwise be lost to the waste stream.

Creating a piece knot by knot requires focus and intention—there is often as much untying as knotting, offering a lesson in patience and persistence. In a world where almost everything is just a click away, this hands-on practice becomes a quiet rebellion against instant gratification. It serves as a reminder of the value of slow, deliberate creation in an age of near-constant screen use.
